Cyclic power breathing can influence the immune response
A controlled study of 24 healthy participants found that people trained in a method of cyclic fast breathing, breath retention, and cold exposure could voluntarily influence their autonomic nervous system and innate immune response. After an endotoxin challenge, trained participants released more adrenaline, showed higher anti-inflammatory IL-10 and lower pro-inflammatory cytokines, and reported fewer flu-like symptoms than controls. The breathing creates short, intentional swings in oxygen and CO2; practiced safely and seated, it is used for energy, focus, and resilience — not as a medical treatment.
