Brief structured breathing shifts your energy and alertness
A remote randomized controlled trial from Stanford Medicine (Yilmaz Balban et al., 2023) compared daily 5-minute breathwork protocols with mindfulness meditation over a month and found that the pace and pattern of breathing directly shape autonomic arousal: faster, fuller breathing nudges the body toward alertness and energy, while longer exhales calm it. Deep Energy Breath uses an even, slightly quickened rhythm (about 15 breaths per minute) to lift energy and focus without the intensity of full hyperventilation practices. Practice seated, and ease back to normal breathing if you feel lightheaded.
